Keeping the sea on one side!
Cycling Weekly have produced a list of 101 things to do in 2016 and at number 13 they suggest Circumnavigate an island. Hannah Barnes suggest the Isle of Wight is a brilliant undulating ride of around 100km. Keep the sea one side and keep riding until you reach your start point!
Think of the amazing views you will see along the way!
Ordnance Survey list the Red Squirrel Trail on the island as one of the most inspirational cycle routes. Steve Rittey from Wheel2Wheel Holidays says “Bicycle Island – or the Isle of Wight, as it’s more commonly known – is one of the most ideal cycling locations you could find. Incredible coastal views, dense and relaxing woodland paths, plenty of history and things to see; it really has it all. The Red Squirrel Trail takes you down through the centre of the island, before veering off to the seawall path from Sandown to Shanklin. I grew up in Gosport across the water. It just goes to show that sometimes the best cycle routes are right in front of you, like the Isle of Wight was for me.”
Red Squirrels at work!
Last week we took some of our Red Squirrel Bikes to the offices of Southern Housing Group for a lunch break taster session. We had a great response and here is what people had to say about the bikes:
"Fab time, didn’t want to get off. Would like to try again"
“Really easy to ride, nice power from the battery to help on the hills. Comfortable ride”
“Great fun and easy to use”
“Great experience, thanks for the opportunity”
Green Travel Month
Throughout the moth of Feburary we will be partnering with Isle of Wight Chamber of Commerce to introduce businesses across the Isle of Wight to green travel ideas like riding an E-bike to work. We will be taking our bikes to businesses and employers to give people a chance to have a go on an E-bike.
